AMSTERDAM, 24 June — Pointer Brand Protection are pleased to announce the appointment of Marcus Stewart as our new director of business development for the UK. With three decades worth of experience acquired in high-level roles in telecommunications, patents and IP-information technologies, Marcus now turns his specialist knowledge of IP to British brand protection.
After beginning as a management trainee with British Rail, Marcus turned a lifelong love of engineering and technology into a career providing information solutions for companies including Vodafone and Nokia. Marcus joins Pointer after a long period as global sales manager for LexisNexis, where he had a wide-ranging remit that makes him the perfect addition to Pointer’s continued expansion into new territories. His combination of technical expertise, information systems knowledge and global experience will be crucial for his new role in leading business relationships with key brands in the UK’s technologically-advanced market.
On the subject of the UK’s continued importance for European businesses, Pointer CEO Robert Stolk commented: “The UK’s track record when it comes to establishing new brands with distinctive intellectual property is unsurpassed. Finance may take more of the headlines, but the UK creative industries alone are worth over £100billion and it’s produced everything from computer games to cutting-edge technologies, all of which stand to suffer from counterfeiting and brand abuse. That’s why we’re so excited to now have Marcus in the market offering a solution to British brands.”
